FREE TRAINING: How To Write And Launch A Bestselling Book In 1 Hour A Day |
It’s party time! Today is my birthday and it’s a special one. Why? Because every birthday marks another amazing year alive. Like, are you kidding me? I overcame the odds of being born. I can read, walk, talk, see, and hear. I travel the world inspiring people. I’ve built two businesses that provide jobs for 20+ people a year. I have the greatest family. I get to have conversations with people of all walks of life. Another year alive marks another opportunity to ELEVATE the world.
To be honest, I love my birthday. I love receiving the warm birthday wishes, the motivational messages from people reaching out, and reconnecting with people I don’t talk to all the time. Over the past few weeks though, I’ve been thinking about how can I make my birthday this year even more special. I thought back to a question I asked myself before I wrote my first book – What can I do to help people?

The time has finally arrived. You are off to your event or conference and you are ready to put all your preparation into action. It’s officially game time!
By the time you arrive at the conference you should be feeling good to go. You might have some nerves because there are a lot of unknowns, but that is okay. At the same time if you read part one on preparation, you will be so prepared you’ll have a plan of attack and several people waiting to meet you. Going to a big conference or networking event soon? I have you covered. As you scroll through you'll be able to see 3 influential ways you can prepare for your next event that will reduce your nerves and set you up for incredible success.
This past weekend I had the chance to attend an amazing conference called NAWD. The attendees were a mixed group of about 300 educators, speakers, Student Activities Advisors, and much more, and they all had a passion for education and positive growth. I heard of this conference several months prior to the date of the event and marked it on my calendar immediately as I knew this was a conference I had to attend. When I first became aware of it, I knew it was going to be a great place to learn and network, but in order to maximize my experience I needed to prepare. Call me crazy, determined, motivated, or whatever you'd like, but I like to spend my free time watching several tv shows that help me become a better entrepreneur, leader, and motivator.
This past weekend I was up early on Sunday and decided to spend my morning with Marcus Lemonis and watch multiple episodes of The Profit. For those of you that don't know, The Profit is a show on NBC where Marcus Lemonis lends his expertise to struggling businesses in various industries across the country while using his famous People/Process/Product principle. While I was watching for entertainment, I was really fascinated by how Marcus approaches each company and its people while also focusing on how each company handles his involvement. We did it! We are officially two weeks in since the launch of Elevate Your Network and all I can say is...WOW!
It's one thing to see the book inspire thousands of people, but it's a completely magical thing to feel the love and support from my friends, colleagues, and the elevate community.
A huge part of relationships is your ability to make people feel appreciated and want to be around you. Think of your favorite people. They’re most likely your favorite people because you enjoy how they make you feel. You want to spend time with them and be around them.
Imagine if by switching one word you could make a huge difference in your ability to make others feel valued and appreciated. Not just people in your circle, but strangers and people that you meet.
It's almost time! The launch of Elevate Your Network is coming and I am so thrilled for the world to read it.
I think some of the best books, blog posts, articles, content come when there's a purpose behind the message. There are a ton of people who can create great messaging, but for me having a WHY makes it that much more meaningful to both me as the creator and you as the consumer. I think this principle is true for life and business as well. A lot of thought has gone into my book and the "elevate" brand, so I figured it was time to share some of this logic. Now, for the good stuff and inspiration behind the book - the color scheme, why each chapter is called a Kelf Key, and why there are 25 Kelf Keys.
Last week I went to a meetup in Santa Monica as part of Alex Banayan’s book tour for his national bestseller The Third Door.
I was introduced to Alex about a year ago through a mutual friend who said we had a lot in common with our drive to understand what makes people successful. He told me that Alex was on this incredible quest to interview some awesome people and that I should follow along. Fast forward to August 2018 and his project has become one of the best books of the year – The Third Door. I mean, it’s really good! He interviews people like Jessica Alba, Pitbull, Bill Gates, Steve Wozniak, and so many more while also sharing his story and overcoming incredible adversity.
This is me, Jake Kelfer.
I’m just a guy living my life, trying to enjoy every day. I love making people smile. I wake up at 5:32am on weekdays and every morning I try to have my first thought be “Today is a great day!
Why do we spend more time criticizing people we don't know and whining about things we can't control than encouraging people we love and enjoying what we have?
I've been contemplating this idea of criticism vs encouragement. It makes no sense to me that we spend hours a day on social media only to criticize the things/people we see. We often let other peoples' experiences, commentary or opinions dictate our conversation. Why? |
