The Blog of Jake Kelfer
Another one… in the books. April is complete and so is my month of cooking. Unlike other months, this recap is going to be in the form of pictures and short descriptions to get your mouths watering and your juices flowing.
Just like that March is over. It’s crazy how quickly time flies when you are busy doing what you love. While I spent a lot of this month marketing my book, I also kept pretty busy with the Lakers as we had 13 home games and multiple community events. I mention that because the season is coming to a close and Kobe is on his way to retirement which sets the stage for new beginnings in the NBA. It also sets the stage for the release of my book which is set to hit markets on May 1st. Even more so it is the reason for this second update about book marketing.
To many of you reading, this probably doesn’t make any sense. Why would I choose book marketing for an activity in My 12 Month Journey? Let me tell you.
I chose to do book marketing during the month of March for a plethora of reasons. The most important reason is that I am releasing my first book at the beginning of May and need to start getting the word out. It is called Elevate Beyond and it is a real world guide to standing out in any job market, discovering your passion, and becoming your own person.
There's not much to say besides ENJOY! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Quick reminder: My first book is launching on May 1st, so stay tuned for updates and details. I will be putting out a Survey Monkey to join my launch team in the next few days and would love the support. Peace and love!
Two months down and this journey continues to amaze me. From learning some incredible dance moves to meeting new people, this month was filled with new experiences.
My 12 Month Journey is an experiment in which I do a different activity every month for the entire year of 2016 with a goal of inspiring people to break out of their comfort zone and pursue something they’ve always wanted to try.
Watch my Final Challenge
Now watch me whip, now watch me nae nae.
Talk about an amazing first half to the month. I have a completely newfound appreciation for the art of hip hop and the people that dedicate their lives to it. Not only is it incredibly challenging and requires an immense amount of discipline, but it is a great workout. My trainer, coach, and motivator for the month is Brittany Glodean and she has been incredible. She has been an amazing and confidence boosting coach so far and I couldn’t be happier to have her helping me out on this journey.
Before I get into details, this month was awesome! Krav Maga was everything I expected and more. The people were great. The workouts were great. Everything about it was great. Month one was a huge success and I can’t wait for every activity that’s to come!
In response to people always telling me what they wish they could do, but never do it, I am creating “My 12- Month Journey.” Every month for the year of 2016 I am going to be taking up an extracurricular activity ranging from tango to learning how to speak Chinese. The activity will be something that is either out of my comfort zone or something that I have always wanted to do but claimed I never had the time to do it. The goal of this is experiment is to inspire people to pursue their passions, break out of their comfort zones and show that you can do it even with a busy schedule.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the time has come for the first update of My 12- Month Journey. For the month of January I decided to take up Krav Maga. Krav Maga (pronounced ‘krahv muhGAH’), means ‘contact combat’ in Hebrew. It is the official defensive tactics system of the Israeli military.
I want to preface this by saying thank you to everyone who's reached out and shared your thoughts about My 12-Month Journey. I hope you enjoy this and get a kick out of my video.
