FREE TRAINING: How To Write And Launch A Bestselling Book In 1 Hour A Day |
In the spirit of building positive habits and increasing happiness, creating and executing a morning routine can have a profound impact. What you include in your morning routine can trigger increased happiness as well as the development of habits that can shape your day. Morning routines don't have to be extravagant or take that much time. I know people who spend 3 minutes each morning on their morning routine because that is all they have before work and I know people who spend 3 hours each morning on their routine. To give you an idea of a morning routine, I'll walk you through mine. Before I dive in, I want you to know this is what works for me. I am constantly trying new things based on my research and making adjustments as I see the growth within me. You may find this insane or you may find this fascinating and want to incorporate some of it into your life. Outside of doing the normal things like brushing my teeth (I hope you all do this in the morning!) and going to the bathroom, this is what a typical morning will look like. #1: Before my feet touch the ground I sit up and do 3 minutes of deep breathing/meditation on the Headspace app. #2: I take a shower and let my mind wander. Sometimes I'll start cold and go warmer and other times, I just want the heat. You know how it is :) After my shower I head to my desk and whip out my journal. #3: Write 3 things that I am grateful for. #4: Write one positive experience in the last 24 hours. #5: Write 3 things I am excited for in the day to come. #6: Ask myself what might trip me up and then write a solution to try and solve potential challenges before they even arise. For example, if I know I have a bunch of meetings, I will right down that I might not take time to relax in between and then my solution is to spend 1 minute after each meeting reflecting and taking time for myself. #7: I AM exercise... I write down 3 positive adjectives to describe me in the present tense. I AM happy. I AM healthy. I AM loved. I am a WINNER. The list goes on but this is great for visualizing who you are and helping with positive self talk. All of the things I do in the morning including my shower typically takes about 15 - 30 minutes on average. I wake up at 5:32am most mornings and am working at my home office by 6am. For me, having this routine enables me to start my day off on the right foot by completing multiple tasks, practicing good habits, and improving my overall happiness. Do you have a morning routine? If so, what is it? If no, are you going to create one?
