Success Spotlight with Anne Baker: Makeup Artist
How do you define success? To me, success is something that totally varies from person to person. I think that I’m successful when I’m happy. I think that I’m successful when I’m doing what I love. Makeup artistry, as a career, is mostly centered around making other people feel beautiful and happy-and that’s another thing that makes me feel successful. I love to make people feel good about themselves. I also believe that success is built around taking the challenges and obstacles that are placed in front of you and not only conquering them but learning from them to use to your advantage. For me, success also ties into feeling that my work is appreciated by others-it feels good when people acknowledge your hard work. I have so many interests in life, and makeup artistry is just one of them. I don’t like to limit myself and I think that is something that will help me achieve the success I’m looking for. All in all, success to me is doing the best I can every day to better myself and others around me. Just a little more than 4 years ago, one of my best friends David Stroud passed away after a long fought battle with cancer. David was diagnosed with Stage IV Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in his junior year of high school. During the 4 years after he was diagnosed, David overcame obstacles and surgeries that few people thought were possible. Unfortunately, David passed away, but it wasn’t before he defeated cancer and became an inspiration to everyone. David’s legacy lives on and his strong spirit and positive attitude lights the hearts of everyone who knows and hears his story

How do you define success? To me, success is living every day to the fullest in mind, body, and soul. I know that phrase can get overused, but it really is a meaningful motto to live by, especially in today’s world. We get so wrapped up in minute details of everyday material and social frivolity; it is hard to remember to enjoy the ride. The extreme circumstances that put us here and allow us to wake up every morning are absolutely extraordinary and forgetting that causes us to forget our mortality all together. Successful living is being aware of this fact and submerging oneself in the experience of the day; the corny joke cracked by your dad at breakfast, the fall leaves rustling on the branches of a tree, the cold brew you buy and drink from your local coffee shop. All of these moments define success to me as a whole. Success Spotlight with Easton Gray Fier: Brand Manager at Rufus Labs
How would you define success? My professional success involves combing three important facets: developing a career that 1) I am extremely skilled in, 2) can change the world for the better, and 3) I am the most passionate about. Most people can achieve one or two of those characteristics in their life, but finding something that combines all three can be a daunting task. I strive for a professional path that will complement my idea of personal success, which to me means having one hell of a time enjoying all life has to offer with the people I love the most. It doesn’t take a millionaire to give back. Shoot, it doesn’t even take an adult to give back. Sometimes, the biggest hearts are in the smallest people.
On November 4, 2012, Matthew’s grandma had a devastating stroke that changed his and his family’s lives forever. He remembers her joyous spirit and big heart and has vowed to honor her memory everyday. Success Spotlight with Kyle Matthew: Aspiring Actor and Student at USC
How would you define success? As someone who constantly aspires to be inspired, I am constantly seeking mantras to further intensify my passions. For my personal definition of success, I believe Winston Churchill articulated it best: “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” |
